In Front In Phoenix

Titleist Ambassador Arron Oberholser hit 14 of 14 fairways on Friday at the Frys.com Open.

After two wrist surgeries and a three month layoff, Titleist Brand Ambassador Arron Oberholser is back in action on the PGA Tour. He posted rounds of 65-64 for an 11-under total and is headed into the weekend the leader by one at the Frys.com Open in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Arron talked about his injury and all that it has taken to get him back on Tour and back atop the leaderboard. He had his first surgery last October, and when it became apparent that didn’t solve his problem he had another one this past July 22. That second surgery, which removed bone spurs and repaired some minor cartilage damage in his left hand, was so successful Arron was putting inside of two weeks and chipping less than a month afterward. Today, a scant three months later, Oberholser is in the driver’s seat at Grayhawk and commented that during the round he had “no problems, zero. Everything was good.”

It was good indeed. Oberholser followed up his bogey-free Round 1 by hitting every fairway in Round 2 and is in the top 10 in both driving accuracy (T7) and greens in regulation (T4). Arron has amassed two rounds of impressive ball striking with a full compliment of Titleist equipment. In addition to the Pro V1x golf ball, Oberholser’s bag includes the new Titleist 909D2 driver (9.5°), 909F2 3-wood (13.5°), and 909H hybrid (19°), as well as 755 irons (3-P), a Vokey Design Spin Milled sand wedge (54), and Spin Milled lob wedge (60) and a Scotty Cameron Newport putter.

Haas Starts Strong in Scottsdale

Bill Haas

Bill Haas

Titleist Brand Ambassador Bill Haas posted a 66 in today’s first round of the Frys.com Open in Scottsdale, AZ.  Coming into the week at 99th on the PGA Tour Official Money List, Haas has all but secured his Tour card for 2009.  In his third full season on the PGA Tour, Bill is looking for more than just job security.

We caught up with Bill after the round and asked him about his goals; goals he set to start the year, goals he has week to week, and even what his goals are for tomorrow’s round.  Here is what he had to say:

“I think it’s hard to set just goals for the year.  It’s easier for me, better for me, to set goals and work on things week to week.  Otherwise, I’ll be hitting my stride in the spring, after 10 starts or so, and I’ll lose my patience.  If I don’t have something closer to work on I’ll lose focus.”

“Instead, I look at what I need to do from week to week.  Yes, I am on the verge of having my best Money List finish, but if you look at my stats, they haven’t really changed.  First and foremost I need to be more patient.  Then I can focus on the things we can measure.”

“As for tomorrow?  Well, I drove the ball really well today and shot a good score.  I guess if I keep that up and get better on the Par 3’s, I’ll be in great shape for the weekend.”

Momentum Continues for 909 Drivers on PGA Tour

Titleist Brand Ambassadors Chez Reavie, Parker McLachlin, Zach Johnson, Marc Turnesa and Davis Love III have each won on the PGA Tour with a Titleist 909 driver.

The momentum continues for the new Titleist 909 drivers as more and more Titleist players each week on the PGA Tour are placing their trust in these new clubs, which are due in golf shops in November. At the most recent stop on Tour, the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas, 22 Titleist 909 drivers were put in play, according to Darrell Survey. Of the 909s in play, 16 were 909D2 drivers, making it the most played model in the field. Be sure to check out the list of Titleist 909 players below to see which model is being played by your favorite Titleist Brand Ambassador on the PGA Tour.

Furthering the 909 momentum on Tour is Titleist Brand Ambassador Marc Turnesa’s first win at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
